In practice
Suction matters more than soap
Anybody can wet a carpet. The part that decides whether it looks good in a fortnight is how much of that water comes back out, carrying the soil with it. Leave moisture and detergent behind in the backing and the carpet wicks dirt back to the surface within days — which is why some cleans look brilliant on the day and grey again by the weekend.
We pre-spray, agitate the pile so the solution reaches the base of the fibre, then make slow overlapping passes and several dry strokes on top. The carpet leaves damp to the touch, not wet underfoot.
Where a room needs speeding up — a tenancy handover the same afternoon, a nursery going back into use — we set air movers down and keep the air turning over until it is ready.

Why stairs look worse than anywhere else
A staircase takes every footstep in the house and concentrates it into a strip about a foot wide down the middle of each tread. Grit gets ground into the nose of the step, where the pile bends over the edge and can never be vacuumed properly.
That strip is why a carpet can look worn out when the fibre underneath is perfectly sound. Lift the soil back out and the pile springs up again.

How wet will the carpet be?
Damp, like a towel that has been wrung out. Most rooms are walkable in a couple of hours with a window cracked, and properly dry the same day. If you need it faster we bring air movers.
Can you shift pet smells?
Usually. Surface accidents respond well to a deodoriser treatment. Where urine has gone through into the underlay the smell lives below the carpet, and no amount of surface cleaning fixes that — we’ll tell you if that’s what we’re looking at rather than take your money twice.
Is it safe on wool?
Yes, with the right chemistry and a cooler temperature. Wool behaves differently to polypropylene and we adjust for it. Tell us what the carpet is if you know.
Do you charge by the room or the square metre?
By the room. Square-metre pricing sounds precise but nobody knows their own floor area, and it turns a simple phone call into a maths problem.
What about the dents left by furniture?
Cleaning and grooming lifts most of them. Deep compressions under something heavy that has stood for years may never come all the way back.
Do you do rented properties between tenants?
Regularly. Landlords and agents across Sheffield book us for turnarounds, and an empty property is the quickest and cheapest kind of job to do.
