In practice
One cleaner takes days. Three take an afternoon
Send one person to deep clean a three-bedroom house and they are there for the best part of three days, with the place half-finished in between. Send three and it is done in one, because somebody can be shut in the kitchen with the oven while the others work the rooms.
The rate reflects that: it is one hourly figure for the team, not three rates added together. You pay for the hours the job takes, and the job takes fewer of them.
Sheffield has a lot of older stock — big Victorian terraces off the main roads, student lets around Crookes and Broomhill, stone cottages up the valleys. Those houses hold dust in places newer builds simply do not have, and they take longer. We’d rather say that up front than turn up and revise the price.

Kitchen
- Oven inside, racks and trays soaked, glass split and cleaned
- Hob, extractor canopy and filters degreased
- Fridge and freezer inside, seals and drawers included
- Every cupboard emptied, wiped inside, out and on top
- Behind and beside anything we can safely pull forward
- Kickboards, floor edges and under the units
Bathrooms
- Limescale off screens, heads, taps and tiles
- Grout scrubbed line by line
- Toilet including the cistern and behind the pan
- Extractor vent taken down and washed where possible
- Cabinets emptied, cleaned and restocked as found
- Floors scrubbed right into the corners
Throughout the house
- Skirtings, door faces, frames and tops of doors
- Switches, sockets, handles and bannisters
- Light fittings, shades and ceiling corners
- Internal glass, sills, frames and window tracks
- Radiators front, back and the wall behind
- Carpets vacuumed under and behind the furniture

One hourly rate covering all three cleaners. Where you sit in the £40–£50 band depends on the condition of the property and how much specialist work is in it.

Is that rate per cleaner?
No — it is the whole team. Three people for £40 to £50 an hour between them, which is the figure most people find surprisingly reasonable once they work out the hours involved.
Do you clean after builders?
Yes, and a team suits it. Fine plaster and brick dust needs several passes because it resettles out of the air onto everything you have just wiped. Tell us it is a post-build job when you book so we allow the time.
Will you shift furniture?
Anything two of us can move safely — beds, sofas, freestanding appliances. Fitted, very heavy or fragile items stay put unless you are there to agree it.
Should I be in the house?
Entirely up to you. Many people let us in and come back to a finished house. If you would rather stay, we work around you.
Is it a one-off or something you repeat?
Normally a one-off. The sensible pattern is one deep clean to reset the house and then a regular fortnightly visit to hold it — far cheaper than deep cleaning again in six months.
Can you do a student house at changeover?
Yes, and it is a busy period for us around the university terms. Book early for late June and September because those weeks fill fast.
